Bristol Palin Attacks Obama’s Same-Sex Marriage Stance: The Real “Chiefs” Are Malia and Sasha

Bristol PalinWhen President Barack Obama came out yesterday in support of same-sex marriage, many Black evangelicals were left reeling, not sure if they should consider withdrawing their support. In fact, 63 percent of Newsone participants said they do not agree with the president’s stance. Apparently, neither does Bristol Palin, daughter of former GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, and she blames Malia and Sasha Obama for the president’s change of heart.

Appearing on ABC’s Good Morning America, President Obama had this to say about his personal evolution of thought:

It’s interesting, some of this is also generational,” the president continued. “You know when I go to college campuses, sometimes I talk to college Republicans who think that I have terrible policies on the economy, on foreign policy, but are very clear that when it comes to same-sex equality or, you know, sexual orientation, that they believe in equality. They are much more comfortable with it. You know, Malia and Sasha, they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples. There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we’re talking about their friends and their parents and Malia and Sasha, it wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently. It doesn’t make sense to them and, frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective.”

Bristol, who was a great source of embarrassment for her mother when she turned up unwed and pregnant at 17 — while Palin preached abstinence to the world — decided to attack the president’s credibility in the blogosphere by saying that his daughters really run 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

“So let me get this straight – it’s a problem if my mom listened too much to my dad, but it’s a heroic act if the President made a massive change in a policy position that could affect the entire nation after consulting with his teenage daughters?”

[Editor's Note: Malia Obama is 13; Sasha Obama is 10 -- conservatives and those pesky "facts."]

But her sarcasm and homophobia don’t end there:

“I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger, or perhaps today’s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox,” she said. “Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking.  In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee.”

And what what would Bristol’s actions indicate — that she’s been watching one too many episodes of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant?

Bottom line: Children should be off limits. It would also behoove Bristol to remember that it wasn’t so long ago, 2008 in fact, that President Obama defended her against attacks.

“Let me be as clear as possible,” Obama said. “I think people’s families are off-limits, and people’s children are especially off-limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president.

“People should back off these kinds of stories;  [I was] born to an 18-year-old mother.”

It’s quite pathetic that the same respect isn’t returned to him. But coming from the Palin family, is anyone surprised?
